Craig and Laura’s incredible hometown wedding was one for the books; I am STILL smiling while thinking about it! These two have such an amazing presence about their relationship, and I don’t know that I’ve ever cried during an “almost” first look like I did with these two! Craig and Laura are the kindest, most loving and adoring people you’ll ever meet, and the second you see the way they look at each other, you’ll know exactly what I mean!

This couple is so special to me for so many reasons. Back in October, we had planned to shoot their engagement session in Blacksburg, a place that is so near and dear to all of our hearts, and in true Blacksburg fashion, it was rained out (of course). We rescheduled for the next day in our hometown of Staunton instead, but little did I know, my sweet boyfriend had planned my own proposal (!!!) for that day, so once he realized we would be pushing the engagement session back a day, he scrambled to get everyone into town for THAT RAINY DAY so that he could propose! Laura and Craig were two of the first people I told of our engagement, and their excitement for me and Lucas during their own engagement session is something that I don’t think I’ll ever forget! They truly are two of the most selfless, giving, and compassionate people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.

Laura and Craig surrounded themselves with the sweetest families and their closest friends, and their wedding day was nothing short of perfect. The love and support of their guests and their wedding party was overwhelming, and it was a true testament to the people they are individually, and to the couple that they are together. Their love for Christ was the foremost focus on their wedding day, and I was reminded in so many instances of just how beautiful the covenant of marriage truly is.

The day started with a private yoga session for the gals, and then Laura and Craig were married in Laura’s childhood church, followed by a reception at the ever beautiful Spring Meadows Farm. I could’ve photographed these newlyweds forever, and I’m so thankful to have been blessed to witness and document such a heartfelt day. Words cannot describe how much of an impact these two have had on the way I view marriage, and on the grace, selflessness, and class that I hope to have on my own wedding day and in my own marriage. Laura and Craig, THANK YOU ENDLESSLY for allowing me the honor of photographing such a perfect day in your lives. Congratulations, you two!

I met the beautiful bride of this Mount Ida Farm wedding back in architecture school at Virginia Tech, and I can remember the first time Cat messaged me saying, “I’m going to marry Brock; he’s going to ask me to marry him and I want you to shoot our wedding day.” Of course, this was before he proposed; this was before Cat studied abroad or even began to think about graduation. We kept in touch and sure enough, Brock proposed and Cat messaged me with a date.

Cat and Brock had the most amazing wedding day, and it began in Richmond, where Cat and her girls got ready at the sweetest little Air Bnb. There was beautiful light in the sun room and hilarious company, and then we headed to the bridal suite at Mount Ida Farm early in the afternoon to finish getting ready.

I’m always so impressed by the details that different couples create to make their wedding unique to their story, and Cat and Brock absolutely hit it out of the park with theirs. They handmade everything, from their library-card save the dates, to their screen printed invitation suites that Cat designed herself, to the wooden coasters that their guests took home as favors. Cat and Brock put so much thought, love, and attention into their details, and it certainly didn’t go unnoticed.

To Mr. and Mrs. Davis, CONGRATULATIONS! You two were such a joy to work with, and it was truly an honor to be a part of such a stunning wedding day full of family and friends. Hope you had a wonderful time in Acadia for your honeymoon!!

Oh my gosh, you guys…WHAT A YEAR! During the middle of the last engagement season, about this time a year ago, the inquiries from excited brides-to-be began slowly rolling in, and then all of a sudden, they started sticking. Like, really sticking. More and more wedding dates filled my calendar and I can remember sitting at my desk with my head in my hands thinking, “What have I done!?” I was overwhelmed and jumping for joy at the same time, so anxious and ready for this busy season, full of incredible new couples and beautiful new venues.

I’m so thankful for the trials and triumphs that 2016 allowed me to experience. I’m so grateful for the grace I was shown and for the grace I learned to give myself. This year challenged me to push harder and give myself wholly to each client and couple, and to approach each wedding day with a servant heart and a love for love itself. There were tears and coffees and nights that ended with my head on the keyboard, but I wouldn’t trade this season for anything. My heart is so full, and I can’t thank you all enough for making this year the best yet for Sidney Leigh Photography. Without further ado, here are some of my all time favorites from this year’s WEDDINGS!!

2016 brought SO many sparkly diamonds to some pretty lucky ladies, and I was so fortunate to be able to photograph both the brides and their shiny rings! Without further ado, enjoy these beautiful engagement rings from the past year, starting with my very own diamond ring from my sweet fiance, from Christopher William Jewelers!

Regina and Chris were married in my last wedding of the 2016 season, and to say it was a grand finale would be a complete understatement! These two had me crying like a child when they shared their vows; I swear I have never heard anything as sweet, honest, and beautiful as Regina’s vows to Chris. Their wedding was a true celebration of who they are as individuals and who they are together, and I am so incredibly thankful that I was able to share in this day.

Hermitage Hill Farm and Stables was the perfect venue for a winter wedding! These two tied the knot in the aisle of the barn, and their wedding party braved the cold for portraits- they were such troopers! Chris and Regina made the most beautiful couple, and spending time with them on the best day of their lives quickly made it one of my best days, too. Congratulations to these newlyweds!!

Jessica and Michael’s wedding was nothing short of incredible! I knew the second I walked into the house they rented in Luray for the wedding weekend that it was going to be a fun one. These two share the sweetest friends, and their wedding party was absolutely hilarious! The wedding took place at Faithbrooke Barn and Vineyards, a new venue in the Shenandoah Valley, and it was the perfect place for these two to tie the knot.

Jessica works for Christopher William Jewelers, a local jewelry store that feels a lot like family, and it was such an honor to photograph a CWJ girl’s wedding! She has the best style and her details were GORGEOUS, and the support that Christopher William had for her and Michael on their wedding day was so wonderful. It was such a joy to share in their excitement for her, and it certainly didn’t hurt that she and Michael wore some of the most beautiful rings and jewelry that I’ve ever photographed!

These two were made for one another, and I am so thankful that they allowed me to be a part of their day. Congratulations, Jess and Mike! I’m so happy for you two!

This golden-hued wedding was one for the records, that’s for sure! Heidi and Kyle had the sweetest wedding day among family and friends by the base of the Blue Ridge mountains at The Cross Keys Barn, and I don’t think it could have been any more beautiful!

I grew up with Heidi, and to be able to spend such an important and happy day with her family and our church family was wonderful in so many ways. It was more than evident that she’s found a perfect gem in Kyle, and it was truly a blessing to witness their wedding day. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more perfect reaction than Kyle’s when he first saw his bride, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd. Their happiness is contagious, and I’m so excited for them as they being this next chapter in their lives together! Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Morris! Y’all are MARRIED!!

This wedding day, oh my GOSH! What a classy affair from start to finish! I met Stephanie and Andrew for coffee a few months before their big day, and I knew from the moment we sat down that they were going to be incredible to work with. Stephanie told me how much she loves details, and as soon as she said that she had Kate Spade sequined Keds for the reception, I knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that we would not only get along great, but that we were all in for one heck of a FUN wedding day! Her ideas and her vision spoke straight to my heart, and I think it shows!

Belmont Country Club was such a beautiful venue, and we could not have been more fortunate to have perfect weather and that warm end-of-summer glow. They shared the sweetest moments, from the father-daughter first look to the way Andrew smiled the second he saw his bride walking toward him. I’m not sure there was a dry eye in the house!

I am so excited to share some of these GORGEOUS details that Stephanie dreamed up! Without further ado, here are some of my all time favorites from their stunning September wedding in Ashburn! Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Michaels!
