Craig and Laura’s incredible hometown wedding was one for the books; I am STILL smiling while thinking about it! These two have such an amazing presence about their relationship, and I don’t know that I’ve ever cried during an “almost” first look like I did with these two! Craig and Laura are the kindest, most loving and adoring people you’ll ever meet, and the second you see the way they look at each other, you’ll know exactly what I mean!

This couple is so special to me for so many reasons. Back in October, we had planned to shoot their engagement session in Blacksburg, a place that is so near and dear to all of our hearts, and in true Blacksburg fashion, it was rained out (of course). We rescheduled for the next day in our hometown of Staunton instead, but little did I know, my sweet boyfriend had planned my own proposal (!!!) for that day, so once he realized we would be pushing the engagement session back a day, he scrambled to get everyone into town for THAT RAINY DAY so that he could propose! Laura and Craig were two of the first people I told of our engagement, and their excitement for me and Lucas during their own engagement session is something that I don’t think I’ll ever forget! They truly are two of the most selfless, giving, and compassionate people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.

Laura and Craig surrounded themselves with the sweetest families and their closest friends, and their wedding day was nothing short of perfect. The love and support of their guests and their wedding party was overwhelming, and it was a true testament to the people they are individually, and to the couple that they are together. Their love for Christ was the foremost focus on their wedding day, and I was reminded in so many instances of just how beautiful the covenant of marriage truly is.

The day started with a private yoga session for the gals, and then Laura and Craig were married in Laura’s childhood church, followed by a reception at the ever beautiful Spring Meadows Farm. I could’ve photographed these newlyweds forever, and I’m so thankful to have been blessed to witness and document such a heartfelt day. Words cannot describe how much of an impact these two have had on the way I view marriage, and on the grace, selflessness, and class that I hope to have on my own wedding day and in my own marriage. Laura and Craig, THANK YOU ENDLESSLY for allowing me the honor of photographing such a perfect day in your lives. Congratulations, you two!

Katherine Williams, my goodness. She’s Katherine Fox now, and I can hardly contain my excitement! This girl is one of my sweetest, closest friends in the entire world, and she has been by my side as we grew up, became Hokies, met our better halves and fell in love with the ones we will spend forever with. It was such an overwhelming honor to stand with her as she said “I do” with Curtis, and to no one’s surprise, I cried some seriously happy tears.

Katie is the kind of friend that makes you want the world for her. She’s the most selfless and giving and thoughtful friend that you could ever dream of having, and she’s hands down the wittiest, and simultaneously the wisest, one I know. She is as beautiful of a soul as she is a bride, and if I could ever be half the friend to her that she is to me, it would be a miracle.

I had the most wonderful afternoon with Katie and her mother at Waterperry Farm shooting these images, so that one day her daughters and granddaughters can look at the photographs of her in her stunning white dress and know just how incredible she is, inside and out. Love you always, Mrs. Fox!

Oh my goodness, this bride right here. I have no idea where to even begin with her! Morgan has been my best friend since we could walk, and I mean that- we were some seriously tiny tots. She has been there through every single small joy, victory, heartbreak and letdown, and I will never find the words to adequately describe just how much I love her, or how much her friendship means to me.

Our sweet friend Lisa of Lisa Mims Photography, with assistance from another wonderful friend, Lindsey of Miscellaneous Media Photography, photographed Morgan’s wedding day, and it was nothing short of perfect! It was so fun to be on the “guest” end of a wedding day, and to have those two lovely ladies document Morgan’s day so beautifully. I reached out to these wonderful gals about collaborating in a styled bridal session for Morgan (mostly to prepare myself and get all the tears out ahead of the wedding day), and the planning began!

It’s impossible to choose a favorite from this shoot at One Eleven South Main, so here are a TON of my favorites from Morgan’s bridal session. She is one absolutely gorgeous bride, and an equally as amazing friend. Love you lots, Morgan!

P.S. I think we all know this did not prepare me at all for her wedding day. I was a hot mess, and I will own that.

I met the beautiful bride of this Mount Ida Farm wedding back in architecture school at Virginia Tech, and I can remember the first time Cat messaged me saying, “I’m going to marry Brock; he’s going to ask me to marry him and I want you to shoot our wedding day.” Of course, this was before he proposed; this was before Cat studied abroad or even began to think about graduation. We kept in touch and sure enough, Brock proposed and Cat messaged me with a date.

Cat and Brock had the most amazing wedding day, and it began in Richmond, where Cat and her girls got ready at the sweetest little Air Bnb. There was beautiful light in the sun room and hilarious company, and then we headed to the bridal suite at Mount Ida Farm early in the afternoon to finish getting ready.

I’m always so impressed by the details that different couples create to make their wedding unique to their story, and Cat and Brock absolutely hit it out of the park with theirs. They handmade everything, from their library-card save the dates, to their screen printed invitation suites that Cat designed herself, to the wooden coasters that their guests took home as favors. Cat and Brock put so much thought, love, and attention into their details, and it certainly didn’t go unnoticed.

To Mr. and Mrs. Davis, CONGRATULATIONS! You two were such a joy to work with, and it was truly an honor to be a part of such a stunning wedding day full of family and friends. Hope you had a wonderful time in Acadia for your honeymoon!!

Amelia and George met me in Blacksburg one afternoon this spring for a sweetheart session, and it was so much fun! These two drove from North Carolina for their session, which they had won as part of the Sidney Leigh Photography rebrand giveaway! I met Amelia through my freshman roommate at Virginia Tech, and she is such an incredibly sweet girl! I was so happy for them when George’s name was drawn for the giveaway, and without further ado, here are a few of my favorites from the afternoon in Blacksburg!

Kara and Ryan met me in Charlottesville on a sunny Sunday evening, and it felt as though I had known them for years! I had met Kara a few months prior to their session through another Sidney Leigh bride, because Kara is the maid of honor in her upcoming wedding! Shortly after we met, Kara became engaged when Ryan proposed on a romantic evening out, and here we are! I am so excited for Ryan and Kara; they are the sweetest, most genuine and easy-going couple, and they were complete naturals in front of the lens! Congratulations on the engagement, guys! I can’t wait for your wedding day!

Oh my gosh, you guys…WHAT A YEAR! During the middle of the last engagement season, about this time a year ago, the inquiries from excited brides-to-be began slowly rolling in, and then all of a sudden, they started sticking. Like, really sticking. More and more wedding dates filled my calendar and I can remember sitting at my desk with my head in my hands thinking, “What have I done!?” I was overwhelmed and jumping for joy at the same time, so anxious and ready for this busy season, full of incredible new couples and beautiful new venues.

I’m so thankful for the trials and triumphs that 2016 allowed me to experience. I’m so grateful for the grace I was shown and for the grace I learned to give myself. This year challenged me to push harder and give myself wholly to each client and couple, and to approach each wedding day with a servant heart and a love for love itself. There were tears and coffees and nights that ended with my head on the keyboard, but I wouldn’t trade this season for anything. My heart is so full, and I can’t thank you all enough for making this year the best yet for Sidney Leigh Photography. Without further ado, here are some of my all time favorites from this year’s WEDDINGS!!

2016 brought SO many sparkly diamonds to some pretty lucky ladies, and I was so fortunate to be able to photograph both the brides and their shiny rings! Without further ado, enjoy these beautiful engagement rings from the past year, starting with my very own diamond ring from my sweet fiance, from Christopher William Jewelers!

Regina and Chris were married in my last wedding of the 2016 season, and to say it was a grand finale would be a complete understatement! These two had me crying like a child when they shared their vows; I swear I have never heard anything as sweet, honest, and beautiful as Regina’s vows to Chris. Their wedding was a true celebration of who they are as individuals and who they are together, and I am so incredibly thankful that I was able to share in this day.

Hermitage Hill Farm and Stables was the perfect venue for a winter wedding! These two tied the knot in the aisle of the barn, and their wedding party braved the cold for portraits- they were such troopers! Chris and Regina made the most beautiful couple, and spending time with them on the best day of their lives quickly made it one of my best days, too. Congratulations to these newlyweds!!

Ryan and Jenny were absolutely INCREDIBLE to spend a Saturday afternoon with! I traveled down to Greenville, North Carolina (well, my fiancé drove so that I could get some work done on the road, so I was chauffeured!) and we explored the small town. Ryan and I have known each other since our time in design at Virginia Tech, and we share a similar aesthetic, as well as love for all things industrial and adaptively reused. It was so wonderful to finally meet Jenny, and to spend time with them as a pair. Their wedding plans are coming along smoothly, and I absolutely cannot wait for their September wedding next fall; it’s going to be BEAUTIFUL!

Ryan proposed to Jenny on this steel truss bridge, so we went back to the same place to shoot for a few minutes. It was GORGEOUS!_8_46

This park, which had been completed underwater just two weeks prior, had the most beautiful trees with wide canopies that caught the light._6_41_14_45_4_29

Jenny, you are STUNNING! You two are the sweetest together!_12_35_10

These two coordinated their outfits beautifully, and not only that, but navy and burgundy are their wedding colors! It was too perfect!_9     _37

This wall was so much fun! We all loved the texture and the weathering, and it made for a great backdrop! I love their sense of style and vibe!_11_33_17_15_23

Such a beautiful ring! Good job, Ryan!_7  _31_ _24_13

Jenny + Ryan brought their sweet pup along for a few shots- he was so good!! He wore the cutest bowtie, and he was so well mannered!_30  _5

These two looked at each other so sweetly. It was pretty evident that they have each found their match in one another- that’s for sure!_27_2_26_16

I loved that Jenny brought along a bottle of bubbly that her friends had personalized for her! It was so much fun to shake and pop!_19 _18

Congratulations to you both,  Jenny + Ryan! I absolutely cannot wait for your beautiful wedding next September in Greenville,  North Carolina!!
